IRC and irc group

Hi I`m new to kali linux and linux at all maters.
I wanted to know hoe to download irc on kali and join kali linux group there.
Any help or page where I can find information?

I use xchat

apt-get install -y xchat

I am sure there are others....

I'm a fan of irssi, but for a beginner; xchat is probably better.
