hello all!

everything has been going great! getting my setup streamlined. now all of a sudden, my system settings pane will not open. it shows that it attempts to open for a few seconds and then it closes. Also when I open a terminal or iceweasel and go to move the window... it is extremely choppy while moving window.

my hardware is:
