I have been struggling with this for a couple of days and could use some pointers.

I am trying to install nethunter without the installer since the installer uses 5.02 it seems as the stock image. Here are the steps i performed:

1. Flash stock 5.1.1
2. Flash supersu and installed busybox and twrp boot manager
3. Reboot into recovery and i tried flashing both nethunter 1.21 and 1.22 (on a seperate occasion)

The install completes successfully and i click reboot system to get out of twrp recovery. Symptoms

1: on reboot the nexus 9 stays on the swirling circles screen for over 30 min.
2. I tried powering off and powering on and it gets to the starting apps dialogue but then reboots and loops.

Any help would be appreciated

If i install nethunter by flashing stock 5.0.1 , will i be able to do the OTA update to 5.1.1? If so, will nethunter still function after the update?

Hi, i bought a nexus 9 yesterday.
I upgrade officially to 5.1.1 and try to install NetHunter in different manner (manual and automatic windows installer).
I facing the same issue: boot loop or infinite optimize app.

Finally i found a way that works:
1) Unlock the bootloader (you have probably just do that).
2) Flash the original firmware 5.0.1 (LRX22C)
3) DO NOT UPDATE TO 5.0.2.
4) Follow the instrucrion for manual install:
- Enabling Developer Mode and Disabling Storage MTP
- Rooting with Nexus Root Toolkit (ensuring the Custom Recovery checkbox is checked).
- Install BusyBox.
- (i didn't install TWRP. Simply power off an then pressing both the power button and volume down)
- Copy the file kali_linux_nethunter_1.21_volantisg_lollipop.zip on the device (yes, the 1.21, not the 1.22) and flash it.

It's work. Android version is 5.0.1 but it works.
I think we must wait for a new version for working with android 5.1.1
The 11 of august they release the new Kali 2.0, i hope they release a new version of NetHuner too.
