G'day, guys. I've got an installation of Kali 1.10a 64 bit on sda2 on my hard drive. My machine is the Gateway T-Series model W350A. "inxi -Fx" in LMDE returns the following (I'm including this to give as many details as are possible)

Please keep in mind I'm only attaching this to help show what my machine looks like. Certain things such as kernel no. and drivers I'm sure will be different in Kali.

Anyway, I'm having trouble logging in after the installation. Sometimes the login goes normally, but usualy I get an unhappy computer face, under which are the words "Oh no! Something went wrong!" and then an advisory to contact the system administrator (me :) ).
I verified the sha1sum of the Kali iso, so I don't think it's a corrupted iso problem. Also, I used MintStick in LMDE to make the bootable usb for installation. I've used this tool many times for installing Kali to a different machine, and never had any trouble with it.

I wondered if it was perhaps gmd3's fault, so I installed lightdm as the login manager. Nothing changed--I can sometimes log in, but normally can't.
Also, I can login perfectly under console. It's just the graphical login that's bugging out.

I looked up http://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/139460/oh-no-something-went-wrong-installing-kali-linux and https://forums.kali.org/showthread.php?1993-Oh-No-something-went-wrong. For the first one, I'm not in VBox, and I tried running "dpkg-reconfigure gnome-shell" with no effect, and on the second, sda2 is a 50GB partition. I'm hardly out of room. :)

I'll be happy to provide any log files as needed. I'm not sure which ones will be wanted, or I'd have attached them to this post.

Thanks for any help!
Fred
