Hi,

it's most frustrating. Kali went on my eee pc 32b no probs. It went on an HP T51 64b no probs. The HP had a long standing issue with the old BT, but Kali works great. However, it just won't go on my asus zenbook. It's got win8 which I shrunk the partition for and Ubuntu 12.10 (went on no probs). I left an 80gb free space for Kali when it came out. No amount of changing the boot config with secure boot off even lets it boot from the usb. The closest I get is turning secure boot back on, then it boots from the usb but just predictably says there is a security cert error. So I'm stummped. The Kail usb is the same one I used on the HP, so that works. Ubuntu is already on the machine with no probs. Anyone got any ideas? I'm going to make a mint usb just to confirm that it could take another OS. But that's clutching at straws. Anyone else go this problem with EUFI hardware?

Can you get it to run from a live USB on the Zenbook. I haven't tried to yet install it on my zenbook.

If Kali is based off of a Ubuntu build like BT was, then you might have a problem. The older versions of Ubuntu were not compatable with the EUFI, that is until 12.10 64bit- i believe. Don't quote me though. I found a Ubuntu Forums thread were someone trying to install Ubuntu 12.10 on a similar platform as you, and the answerfor them was to disable the secure boot control. The post is here (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2086054). This might be the problem, or a starting point.

[EDIT]: Kali is based off of Debian, not Ubuntu. The point might still be valid though. See if the above works.

Try my instructions to make Kali EFI bootable.
