I was trying to get started learning about bluesnarfing today. I am useing the internal bluetooth device on my Kali Box and am wondering if i need an external bluetooth device or something. I have the blue tooth enabled on 4 different devices, all of which are sitting right next to my Kali Box:

Nexus 5
a Nexus 7
a Nexus 6
Moto 360

So I was expecting to see them when i ran the following:

root@kali:~# hciconfig
hci0: Type: BR/EDR Bus: USB
BD Address: AC:D1:B8:11:04:70 ACL MTU: 820:8 SCO MTU: 255:16
UP RUNNING
RX bytes:1764 acl:0 sco:0 events:103 errors:0
TX bytes:1138 acl:0 sco:0 commands:95 errors:0

root@kali:~# hciconfig scan
hci0: Type: BR/EDR Bus: USB
BD Address: AC:D1:B8:11:04:70 ACL MTU: 820:8 SCO MTU: 255:16
UP RUNNING
RX bytes:1764 acl:0 sco:0 events:103 errors:0
TX bytes:1138 acl:0 sco:0 commands:95 errors:0

root@kali:~# hcitool scan
Scanning ...
root@kali:~#

but as you can see, my box doesn't seem to see any of them. What am i missing? are those devices just that secure? Can someone please help this curious young grasshopper get started with blue snarfing?

Hey elidd1, just ran the same test on my box, i have both old external and internal bluetooth devices. The old external device only picks up my tv, my internal device picks up all other nearby bluetooth devices.

Hey if people are still reading this I had the same problem. However, one thing that I noticed is that with some of my devices, like my iPhone, when I was in my bluetooth menu the device will pop up. However, if I was not in it would not appear. So I believe it might be just newer devices having better bluetooth security. Can someone please help sort this out
