Edimax AC600 USB wifi adapter not detected

Hello everybody,
So I bought me this Edimax AC600 USB wifi adapter and are trying to get it ro work on Kali Linux 2.0 (64 bit) on a VMWare Workstation 12 guest.
But, so far no show....
The Kali is updated and upgraded, with the Headers installed. The driver is EW-7811UAC_Linux_driver__v1.0.0.7, also tried EW-7811UTC_Linux_driver_1.0.1.6.
I cannot seem to compile the driver to a working one, anyone had any experience with this setup?

Will it work outside of a VM? Have you tried it on the 32-bit Kali install?

Yes, it works perfectly on the Windows 10 host. Have not tried 32 bit Kali yet, will try too!
