I am trying to dual boot kali 2.0 on my windows 8.1 system.

I have successfully created the usb image and can get my laptop to boot from usb.

It shows up with the kali boot menu and I can even access the live version.

However, when I click install (both text and graphical) it just beeps, the menus flashes on and off once, then nothing happens.

I have also tried the light version with the same results.

My system is 64bit so I am using 64 bit Kali. Should I try 32 or will that not work on my system? Or should I try an older version of Kali?

Any suggestions?

Please help.

P.S. as you can probably tell I am completely new to Kali and Linux in general.

enable Legacy boot
https://neosmart.net/wiki/enable-legacy-boot-mode/
disable secure boot
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn481258.aspx
and then try to install

Yeah I have done that already. Like I said, it boots from the USB just fine but when I click install on the Kali menu it beeps and flashes then nothing happens.

Ok thanks for your help. I got it working now. I think the problem was that I used Universal USB Installer instead of Win32 disk imager.

Thanks again!
