I finally got a good working download of kali. I used unetbootin to boot to the live install. Everything seemed to go smoothly at first. I get to the end of the install where the partition table needs to change. When I had everything configured and went to the next step to write the changes it said that one of the partitions( /root) was being used and i needed to reboot before making changes. I did that and the very next boot I am stuck at a black screen with a blinking cursor in the top left. Ive tried everything I personally know of to get around it and have had no luck.

Pc is an Inspiron 1750 that HAD Windows 10 installed.

I have usb emulation enabled in the bios but I don't see that as a bootable option. It only shows HDD amd CD/DVD as a startup option.

Can anyone help?

because it is new year and I want everybody to be happy I will answer you :)
next time when you want to install some other Linux I recommend you first to read about it an see all possible problems about installation.
after that you wan't have questions like this.
first the method you are using with unetbootin is wrong.
read this post how to perform Kali installation
https://forums.kali.org/showthread.php?26780-Working-method-to-install-Kali-2-0-Sana

if you are using UEFI boot then read this post
https://forums.kali.org/showthread.php?26988-Install-Kali-Linux-2-0-(Sana)-in-UEFI-Mode-(Dual-Boot-Windows-8-8-1-10

and before you proceed to install Kali once again, in Windows from Disk Management delete Kali partition and leave those space as unpartition (free)

The problem I'm having is that I can't boot into any OS. The reason I tried unetbootin is because I tried grub2win several times with no luck.

then use some other tools to repair boot like Hiren's boot, boot repair, Ultimate Boot CD... there are many tools for this
and read how to use it.

I can't burn a cd if I can't boot into the OS and USB is no longer showing up as a boot option.

is there something you can do on this comp?
if you don't know how to set up your BIOS I can not help you.
try to set BIOS to default system settings or you can always reset BIOS by removing battery (if you know how to do that)
