Hi all,

I have installed kali-linux-2016.2-amd64.iso into a virtual machine. I am using vmware player as my virtualization solution. I was able to install Kali Linux using speech. The orca screen spoke through out the installation process.
Once I rebooted, there was no speech. I am blind and have limited access to competent sighted assistance. I was able to login and reach a terminal. I have tried the following.
1. orca --replace
2. Just typing orca.
3. Once I was out of the terminal on the desktop, pressing control+windows key + s.
4. I read the thread at https://forums.kali.org/showthread.php?32690-Kali-Linux-2-2-Network-and-Sound-Issues
and tried pulseaudio -D and then orca

I had no success. I did not have any speech.

I have also tried running the kali virtual machine namely the one contained in the file Kali-Linux-2016.1-vm-amd64.7z. Again, I tried running orca once I logged in but had no speech.

My host operating system is windows 10 professional.
Version 1511 (OS Build 10586.545)

Any suggestions on what I could try next?
