Hello,

After installing Kali 2016.2 last night on my laptop the brightness fn keys are not working and neither is the slider. When I open the display control it shows the message could not get screen information. Under system details it also shows nothing for Graphics.

I can adjust the brightness in a terminal with the following command xrandr --output eDP-1 --brightness 0.7

With Kali 2016.1 x64 I do not have this problem however I am running it from an an encrypted usb flash drive in legacy mode.

I decided to put 2016.2 on my ssd drive using uefi boot. I had some initial problems with the installer. I had created a usb installer using Rufus but it would not boot via uefi. In the forums I found a post saying that there was a second partition in the iso file and was able to boot the usb installer via uefi after extracted the efi img partition from the iso and put efi folder on the usb installer.

There were two odd things about the install even though I booted to a usb flash drive to install it would not continue the install without the cdrom present and seemed to get most if not all the files from the cdrom.

After the install the efibootmgr did not have any entries but I was able to use the laptops uefi to boot the efi file installed on the hard disk and then corrected the problem using apt-get install --reinstall grub-efi-amd64

Im not sure if the install didnt go properly or what. Everything else seems to be working so far.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Thank you haolevu

Anyone know if there is anyway to find out if the display control showing the message could not get screen information and no graphics listed Under system details is the same issue? Everything Ive looked up points to X should autodetect it so perhaps its related to this same bug?
