I have installed kali rolling 2016.2 on HP Pavilion 15 p077tx. When I rotate the laptop screen also rotates just like that smartphone. I think this is happening due to the availability of accelerometer sensor. Can anyone please suggest how to stop that. It becomes very annoying sometimes.

Try running lspci, lsusb, or dmesg, and see if Kali identifies the accelerometer. With that info, you can probably shut it off.

Hi, I have the same problem, what I'm doing while I find a solution is typing the following command in terminal:

xrandr --output eDP --rotate normal

eDP is my video, check yours with :

xrandr -q

I know is not a fix, but I'm able to work while I find a permanent solution. If anybody knows how to fix this, give us hand please =)

I disable auto-rotate from the tray menu. After that it doesn't rotate. Did you find auto-rotate option in the tray?

I don't think after rotation, disabling auto-rotate, doesn't help right? My screen is not rotated. Don't know how to solve it. I ran the xrandr --output eDP --rotate normal command, but I get output eDP not found; ignoring message

UPDATE:
I ran the following command in the terminal. It worked. I ran this command when the screen is rotated.

xrandr -o normal
