Hey Guys. So when booting from a USB i'm getting this:

kernel panic-not syncing: VFS: unable to mount root fs on unknown block(0,0)

Searching around, this usually is caused by a corrupted ISO that you're using to make the USB, or it's caused by using a USB that is formatted to NTFS.

Things i've tried:
I've used both the latest stable version of Kali (2016) and the weekly version (2017 W05)
Also tried Formatting with MBR and with GUID partition table, no joy.
Used dd
used unetbootin (I know this won't work but i gave it a shot anyway)
Tried with a blank hard drive
Tried with a hard drive that contained a fresh install of El Capitan
Tried burning to DVD - The option didn't show up when i held option on boot, neither for an external CD drive or the internal one.

In almost all of these situations, The same USB will boot fine on a different Mac (Tested on a 2015 iMac and a 15inch 2013 MBP) So i'm pretty sure i'm properly burning the ISO to the USB.

Also, i can get backbox to boot from a USB on this machine - Just to test if it was even possible to boot linux from a USB on this iMac version

Does anyone have any ideas?
