Been trying to troubleshoot this issue, but I'm coming up short. Could use advice or tips on how to remedy this situation. Only started happening after I began a Linux update yesterday to what I believe is Linux 4.14.0 or 4.14.12 but I cannot check because my os won't boot now.

Here is my system information:

Processor - Intel (R) Core(TM) i7-6500 CPU @ 2.50GHz, 2601 Mhz
Manufacturer - Acer
Model - Aspire E5-575G_1094_1.04
System Type - x64-based PC
(Under Device Manager and Display Adapters I have both 1. Intel(R) HD Graphics 520 and 2. NVIDIA GeForce 940MX listed)
(Under Device Manager and Network Adapters I have both 1. Qualcomm Atheros QCA9377 Wireless Network Adapter and 2. Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller listed)

Background: I run Kali Linux in dual boot on my Acer laptop, and I've never come across any issues until I tried this recent system update for Linux.

http://i64.tinypic.com/fxc8jd.jpg (errors I'm receiving on boot) Note: the screen flashes on boot several times while this error is displayed

I have tried editing the grub loader with both PCI=nomsi and PCI=noaer but neither seemed to work...
Looking for any suggestions on things to try or methods of recovering my data (files etc.) if it is not possible to recover my os.

Sounds like a Acer or probly something to do with your graphics card. Can you boot into Windows?? if not you might need Acer troubleshooting not Kali.
