Hi

First I want to tell you guys that I'm not that good with this Linux stuff... ( And I haven't found any other thread about just this issue)

Issue /Problem
When I try to install anything and/or do apt-get update I get this error

ERROR

The package linux-image-4.15.0-kali2-amd64 needs to be reinstalled, but I can't find an archive for it.

uname -r Output
4.14.0-kali3-amd64

Any help is appreciated. :)
Links to threads with the same problem etc are welcome. :)

Hmm, looks like you are running an older version of Kali. Kali 2018.2 runs on 4.16 kernel. Installing the latest version of Kali should fix the problem

Okay but how do I do that without losing any data?

Normally, apt (or apt-get) would allow you to safely upgrade. Since that's not an option in your case, backup anything you need, then restore after reinstalling Kali. I think that will give you the most stable Kali system.

I use Clonezilla to take an image of my Kali box before major upgrades, and do non-clone data backups as needed.

Got it working now by doing a backup of my important stuff and then Reinstalling Kali on the PC. Thanks to everyone who have responded to this thread. :D
