I'm trying to install Kali linux on my raspberry pi model b+ v1.2. I only recently found out about Kali and have little experience with it. I downloaded the Raspberry pi ARM image from the Offensive Security website (https://www.offensive-security.com/kali-linux-arm-images/) on my SanDisk Extreme PRO 64GB micro SD card. When i booted my raspberry pi with the micro SD card i got the message "---[ end Kernel panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill init! exitcode=0x0000000b" and a couple minutes later: "random: crng init done". It has been stuck on this message for hours now and the Kali login screen still hasn't booted. When i plug in my keyboard to the raspberry pi, it receives no power and is inactive. I tried re-installing the software on the micro SD to no avail. I'm not sure what steps to take and any help would be appreciated .

I'd try a different card to see if that makes a difference.
I've had these problems in the past with SanDisk Extreme PRO's on older models.

Thanks for the quick reply!
I bought a 8gb Kingston micro SD and tried installing the software on that. It installed successfully, but the same screen is showing up on my monitor. I included an image of the output I'm getting.

Just realized the image I posted is unreadable. I put it on Google Drive; hopefully it will be more clear.

I am have the same problem on my RPi Model B v1.2 (but works on RPi 2 B+ v1.1). Same exact SD card being switched between RPis.

Also, two different RPis using MicroSD HC 8Gb Card, both work with Raspbian Stretch 6-27-2018 iso:

RPi Ver: 2 Model B V1.1 (chipset: BCM2836)
ISO: kali-1.1.0-rpi2.img
Result: Screen doesn't light up

ISO: kali-linux-2018.2-rpi3-nexmon.img
Result: Booted into Desktop

RPi Ver: 1 Model B+ V1.2 (chipset: BCM2835)
ISO: kali-1.1.0-rpi2.img
Result: Screen doesn't light up

ISO: kali-linux-2018.2-rpi3-nexmon.img
Result: "random: crng init done"

I'm guessing you've got the wrong ISO for your Pi. I have 3 Raspberry Pi 1 model B+ version 1.2 and would like to use one with Kali. I have read that ISO image "kali-2.1.2-rpi.img.xz" will work with RPi 1. I managed to find a torrent for it but haven't been able to connect to any peers here: https://bt4g.com/magnet/92f6fae7cd29d72fe69b835f3b2d938ce90eb05b

If anyone has any suggestions where to find the ISO or how to create it using the github scripts, your input would be helpful.

First of all, I love you. It turns out I had installed the Rpi 2/3 ARM image instead of the RPi1 image. I got mine booting using a "kali-linux-2018.2-rpitft.img" from the same Offensive Security webpage. However, I still need help. When I booted my pi with the new image, I got this screen:

I'm guessing Network Time Synchronization failing has something to do with my network not working? I have my pi connected to ethernet, so I don't know what the problem is. I had originally altered the /etc/network/interfaces file with the Raspbian OS installed to setup my wifi adapter, but wouldn't that file have been saved with the OS on the old micro SD? I know it was suggested to use the command: sudo apt install libnss-systemd (https://forums.kali.org/showthread.php?38906-Network-Time-Synchronization-fails), but I don't see a way to do this without access to my pi's command line.

@Mattaman1234: Which image did you use?

Hi vvarrior,

I don't have a Pi 1 to test but I can't see why this image wouldn't work:

Hi,

Have you tried to do "apt-get upgrade" or "apt-get dist-upgrade" ? Also have you tried to upgrade the kali linux to full version on a higher SD card (64GB or 128GB)?

At boot, the kernel waits for mouse movements to initialize the random number generator.
