Hello dear friends!
For a long time I can not find a suitable device and really need help!
Now I use the Rapsberry Pi3 with a 3.5 "screen, but it is very weak for any tests and training.

There is an opportunity to buy one of these netbooks. But what will Kali work well in?

1) ASUS X102BA-DF024H
2) Acer D270-268WS
3) ASUS Eee PC 1005PE
4) Lenovo 20015
5) ASUS Eee PC 900HA
6) Acer 751h
7) emachines EM350 NAV51

Only the first netbook has 4 GB of RAM.

Or save money and buy some of these two?
GPD Pocket 2 8 GB or Gemini PDA only WiFi

I am an intern for a security professional and I need a device for the future.

Help me please!
I already broke my whole head (

I bought the Gemini and haven?t been able to get Kali installed. I?ve been following the instructions here:https://docs.kali.org/kali-on-arm/kali-linux-gem-pda with no luck. Hope that helps...

After all, there are ARM processors!
Why does Kali then work poorly?
The last two solutions are very expensive.
And I can not understand whether they have meaning.

ASUS X102BA-DF024H Will this netbook work fine with Кali?

ASUS X102BA-DF024H Will this netbook work fine with Кali?

Only one way to find out. personally would go with the one with highest RAM.

And what is the difference between these images?

Kali Linux Light
Kali Linux Mate
Kali Linux Kde
Kali Linux Xfce
Kali Linux E17
Kali Linux Lxde
Kali Linux 64 bit VMware VM
Kali Linux 64 bit Vbox

Mister_X

Kali light is almost a bare-bone kali ISO, with XFCE
Kali Mate is Kali with Mate desktop environment
Kali KDE is Kali with KDE desktop environment
Kali Xfce is Kali with Xfce desktop environment. Compared to the light one, it has the same tools installed as the regular kali versus the light that has just the top 10 AFAIK.
Kali E17 is Kali with E17 desktop environment
Kali Lxde is Kali with Lxde desktop environment
Kali Mate is Kali with Mate desktop environment

Kali Linux 64 bit VMware VM is the base 64 bit ISO installed for vmware. Same goes for the virtualbox one.

Thanks!
I bought a laptop ASUS X102BA-DF024H, it is worth Windows 10.
And I can not boot from the flash drive to install Windows 7 first.

An error 0xc0000428(

Decided to install Kali!
I chose to boot from a flash drive and this error appeared.

What to do now???

Where is this item?
I don't own an ASUS X102BA. RTFM (Page 100)?

Is Fast Boot enabled? Disable it.
Is CSM disabled? Enable it.

It's trial and error until it works ;)

I have already changed the battery on the motherboard, and the thermal paste.

On another laptop, installed Windows 7 on the hard drive, inserted it into this one and it does not see it!
Loaded from a flash drive, to reinstall, also does not see!

Only Windows 10 can be installed on a netbook (

Are you trolling?

And please use search engines to find postings like. https://unofficialx102.wordpress.com/2013/12/03/uefi-secure-boot-and-the-x102/

Friend I am not a troll!
Honestly the first time such problems with bios (

I removed the fast boot, turned off Secure Boot menu and turned on two CSM.
I have both turned on.

I started to put Kali from a flash drive, and everything stopped, as Kali asks CD-rom, but I don’t have that.

I installed Kali!
But everything is very slow.
How to increase the size of virtual memory?

The hard disk is 500 GB and the RAM is 4 GB.

Mister_X

DartH, CPU and hard drive can be bottlenecks. Increasing the swap *may* make it use the hard drive more. You'd have to change the partitions on your HDD and it's kinda hard to do if all is already allocated. The easiest would be to reinstall. However, if you feel inclined and if the swap is at the end of the HDD, you can try to delete the swap then shrink the main partition and recreate a bigger swap.

I'd recommend switching to the 32 bit version and XFCE unless you know you have tools that need to use more than 4Gb at once (not for the whole system, for a single tool, allocating more than 4Gb for itself).

My processor is 64 bits.
Is it possible to install version 32 bits?
Will it also have all the tools?
I do not really understand the difference.

Sections I do not know how to change.

Guys and I do not work in Kali touchpad.
And when you download this error appears.

And why in the images there is no system with a desktop Cinnamon?

Mister_X

64 or 32 bit doesn't define the speed of the CPU.

Yes, you can install/use 32 bit on a 64 bit CPU. Yes, the same tools will be present.

ive been trying to get to work on gemini pda doesnt work yet. of all the devies i have all on the gdp pocket is by far my favorate i dont know about version 2. i like the first version with mouse button. re4son's kernel makes it crazy fast. id buy it again if it broke. great for kali its size makes it very discreet

Mister_X
2019-01-07, 22:57
@nikmel420, that's an entirely different issue that what people are having here, start a different thread in the ARM section.

DartH Vader
2019-01-08, 06:41
And what can you say about the error on the screen?

Mister_X
2019-01-08, 19:59
DartH, that's probably better to create a different thread if you have an issue installing. And you want to provide more details on what you've done and what led to the error itself. Like if you ask a mechanic to fix your car, he's gonna need to know what's wrong exactly.

Just from your image you could say your bios isntt configuring properly with uefi mode of linux kernal. Not sure your exact problem

https://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/linux-hardware-18/acpi-error-what-means-4175605357/

If you enabled NOMODESET from your noveou drivers and are still having problems then your stuck with a real problem.

Kali herself is working fine.
When you start the system, this error appears.

I talked with ASUS, this model was created only for Windows 8 and 10.
Maybe because of this and this error.

I understand that there is nothing terrible?
The battery in the laptop is already old.

NoobLinuxuser
2019-01-10, 01:34
Well, I checked specs on the laptops posted, and only the first choice would have given you (in theory) a faster Kali experience than a Pi... only a Pi has four cores so even then, probably no faster. You might have been better off just getting a bigger screen, mouse and keyboard (and a USB hub).

TBH the others listed were not really that great, so yeah, I'd have blindly gone for only considering the first option. If you are still learning.

Pi 3s aren't slow really, they just look toy like with a 3.5 inch display.

Mister_X
2019-01-10, 16:15
You can also consider a used laptop on ebay. Even something 4 or 5 years old is still faster than a Pi.

Hey.
For example, I have a USB wi-fi module.
And how for him to install drivers in Kali?
Or, for example, a driver so that you can change the screen brightness with the Fn key.

Maybe never, there is no guarantee a WiFi hardware chipset is supported by any version of Linux.

No idea. Mine works as far as screen brightness and volume change goes. I did nothing to set them to work, they just do.

KDE with Kali is definitely a heavy choice but it might be most easily understood by others if you're planning on developing a platform for others to use.

Memory and processing power are important to me when making this decision. If I'm going to use it to do some timely password cracking, I'm looking for a machine that has a separate GPU and the fastest memory I can afford. I have a circa 2009 Toshiba Ultrabook which I upgraded from 4 to 8GB ram and a 500GB eMMC drive. I replaced Windows with Kali and...it lags :( I think either the i3 can't hack it or maybe the integrated GPU. My $0.02 anyways :)

@tarah +1 for KDE. My absolute favorite.
If that's too heavy for the hardware I use LXQt.

@Lunarbinary - sorry to reply so late, I somehow missed your post. Planet Gemini did a hardware refresh in December which required a rebuild of our image.
Looks like you were one of the unlucky ones that got the new hardware before the new image was made available. It should all be working now.

the gdp pocket doesnt run on arm, its intel. and he asked about it in the first post how is it off topic recomending it?
