Code review of tools prior to adding to Kali

I'm just curious in regards to tool requests and tools that are added to the Kali repo's.
Do all tools get a thorough code review to ensure no malicious code is present? Also is this continually checked prior to release of updates?
I did search online and could not find any information that answers these queries.
