Hi there,

I just made a recent update on all my packages (apt-get update, upgrade, autoremove ...) and it seems that there's a bug with gdm3 : https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/pkgr...nstable#_0_1_4 (https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/pkgreport.cgi?pkg=gdm3;dist=unstable#_0_1_4)

After that update, I couldn't start the X Window session manager (here it was gdm3), on boot there was a blank screen and I couldn't log on the ttys.
I tried installing lightdm / sddm and booting again. Now the session window is opening correctly on boot but I can't login to my root account (it get stuck when I press enter).

Does anyone has a solution?

Thanks in advance

This is being dealt with on the bug tracker at https://bugs.kali.org/view.php?id=5727#c11164. If you were caught in this, you can work around it with:

# apt install gir1.2-gnomedesktop-3.0/kali-rolling
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Selected version '3.30.2.1-2' (kali-rolling [amd64]) for 'gir1.2-gnomedesktop-3.0'
The following packages will be DOWNGRADED:
gir1.2-gnomedesktop-3.0

Alt+F2 keystroke which started the terminal session for me and I was able to login.the new terminal will open.then you type the username or password that you already fixed .Then you type below command. "sudo apt purge gdm gdm3" It works in kali Linux 2020.3.Iam from India.
