help with kali 5.3 the password entered in the screen does not work after the last update. I also did a passwd reset but it didn't work. what happened??

Please Help, i have the same problem.
After my last update and upgrade my root passwd did not work anymore.
When i start my Kali Linux, it start whit my not root account, and there i can use su,and than my root passwd works, bud i can not come into my root any more.
I have the same problem. After latest update cannot login with root, the only way to login with root is through terminal on login screen using Ctrl+Alt+F2

the answer is apt install kali-root-login
and everything works again
