Hibernate / Black Screen Stuck

Hey guys, when I leave Kali Linux sitting and it goes to Hibernate or Sleep. Whatever you want to call it. It just sticks on a black screen and wont recover. This is with the latest .4 update (standard Kali installation). Latest apt-get update && apt-get dist-upgrade.

When I have Googled the issue, people have just disabled hibernation altogether. Anyone know how to simply allow the laptop to sleep correctly instead of just completely turning the feature off?

I got your very same problem, but still could not solve it as while updating, it went hibernate, and after pwd input, just black screen (of death) with the blinking cursor. Anyone got an hint, how to at least reach a command line to input a new update?
