I recently installed Kali Linux 2020.1 and my laptop has a 4k panel
The resolution is not a problem however due to the screens high pixel density all of the icons, menus and other features are tiny.
After a while I could not find any options to adjust the screen scale.
In the next version please add it in.
From an upset pen tester with a 4k screen laptop.
EDIT: This is installed on VirtualBox and I have installed the VirtualBox Guest Additions too, but I can't see any differences other than a slight improvement in performance.
I have the same problem on a Dell Precision 5540. The text is unreadable.

Hello, Did you ever figure out a fix for your icons and 4k?
I am running 2020.4. I was able to get my icons bigger using this method. I went to the Start Button Top Left "Dragon Logo" > Then bottom right of the menu I clicked on the three little dots called Settings Manager > Appearance > Settings > Window Scaling > 2x
I hope this might help someone. If anyone has a better way please let me know. I still had to increase my text size in the terminal.

Click the Start Menu and Search for "hidp" Click Kali HiDPI Mode. I believe this will fix your issue.
Hope that works for you.
