I have the same issue on Lenovo Ideapad L340 and rtl8821ce 802.11ac

Hi,

I had the same issue on my HP laptop.

After installing the Kali 2020.2 release I installed the tomaspinho 8821CE support from GitHub.
The install process came back with an error-message.
Analyzing the installation log files I found the package bc was missing.

So my solution was to install package bc

sudo apt install bc

and then re-run the installation script as described in tomaspinho's installation guide.

Hope this helps others too.

Stay healthy.

I know it's been a while since this post but i just spent 4 days working on this. Since people are still having issues the adapter i wanted to give information of what i finally had to do. I had no ethernet plug to get internet. I did download the driver using another computer to a thumb drive. I went through with the de-package it went ok (my memory is jacked and i did so much that i cant remember the steps please forgive) once i did the the ./dkms-install.sh i received error about the kernel header files not being found. what I finally did is use my cell phone for a tethered internet connection. i did apt update then apt-get update && apt-get install -y linux-headers-$(uname -r) and received same message about kernel headers file not found. i manually did apt install linux-headers-amd64. Then i did apt-get dist-upgrade (this took several hours, so if you have limited data access/allowance on your cell it will be a factor) I did complete shutdown and turned on computer and now i have wifi. (I literally just finished it) it was a pain because everywhere i looked it said update using apt and i had no internet. I finally found a thread that said use phone as a tether (i cant believe i didn't think of that before tbh) i hope this helps someone.
