View Full Version : Themes
Hi guys. I am new to Kali, as I understand, it may be the BEST pentesting distro out there. :o
BUT (there is always a but) interfaces SUCKS, themes, icons, windows borders all look as if they were from 1960.
REquest: Is there any chance somebody could add some really nice (aka mint, etc) eye candy for kali, yes, I KNOW I can install xfce, lxde, etc. Already tried. Cinammon also but it breaks down all the pentesting menu.
I just want the original interface but with a wider choice of themes selected buy somebody with a nice taste for nic eyecandy.
Why should we have a horrible interface (hate THICK titlebars of awidata) on the BEST pentesting distro?
Ideas  any indication on where I can finde those themes and how to install?
THANKS and THANKS for the good work on kali

Have you ever seen a computer from the 1960's LOL
I think Kali looks great out of the box
anyway you can change the themes with :
apt-get install gnome-tweak-tool

Not of the 60s haha, but of the near 80's yes, circa 84 - 86 I had my first pc's @ work and in 87 my OWN first 386 :-O
To the point: yes already installed gnome tweak tool, IT SHOULD BE STOCK, I HATE to big fonts.
The question is: WHERE can I download some new themes to try out an change the interface more to my taste?
Thanks for answering :-)

Try this:

Thanks, had googled some. I am not THAT noob haha. But yes am noob on linux. read somwhere that themes for gnome 3 wont work on 3.45 or 3.6 etc
What gives? What should I choose, themes for GTK, Gnome Shell, etc? I know Kali is debian based... but that's all.

I have a nice transparency enable kali desktop using the following:
apt-get install kde-plasma-desktop

once installed reboot and at login on the left is a drop down menu item choose plasma.
Try it ....
Kind Regards Dee

Please some tips so I don't download themes that won't work or may bork my installation? THANKSSSSSS

Looks Nice, will try.
Where can I find those icons?
Thanksssss
I think it looks better than windows ME, and the common version looks as good as XP at the very least. Also I had been running a version of backtrack without a GUI on an old laptop of mine for quite some time, so any GUI is nice to have. #blesst
Brother, you can easily spice your Kali Linux machine by adding some new themes to it. Changing Kali Linux theme is very easy brother. You just need to download a theme and change with using Gnome Tweak tool. I have also written a detailed guide on it in my blog :

That's my suggestion to you.
