Black screen with mouse cursor after login to kali 5.10.0-kali3-686-pae

Hi,

I have an old machine (32-bit) running kali-rolling used for training and some testing. Yesterday, I performed complete update using the

apt update
apt upgrade
apt dist-upgrade

Before the update, I had "5.6.0-kali2-686-pae". After the update, I have "5.10.0-kali3-686-pae".

After the update, when I login with the root account I get a black screen that keeps refreshing and mouse cursor. That's it.

I can't open a treminal or right-click or anything. It is as if the desktop has crashed.
