Hi guys,

Long story short I used Backtrack for couple of weeks now on virtualbox and I loved it so I thought installing it in my laptop (6450b) but after three days I gave up as I couldn't fix the startx problem so I decided to use Kali instead BUT after two times re-installing I give up again on it. First time took me about an hour and the second time I used encryption and it took me more than twelve hours and I just finished installing it but the problem is that I can't login. I used root, toor, kali toor, the password I entered for encryption with kali and root username but that one didn't work either.

Anyone have had this problem before? Or anyone has a solution for this? I would be very thankful if anyone could help me out with this so your inputs are very welcomed and thank you inadvanced.

according to the documentation (http://docs.kali.org/installation/kali-linux-encrypted-disk-install), when setting up the LVM there are two areas you enter a password, one for the root login, and another for the encryption process. Remember root user name is 'root'. Where are you hitting the wall, as you boot up or at login screen? Also you didn't mention are you trying to use Kali in virtualbox as well, like you did with backtrack?. My recommendation, start over, skip the encryption for now as it complicates things. Try to follow the guide (http://docs.kali.org/installation/kali-linux-hard-disk-install); should work painlessly.
