I was using separate usb key for booting my encrypted OS BT5, but since moving on Kali I have some difficulties setting up the same solution.

I recycled this tutorial to do it, but I cannot use all the commands I could do on BT5, like update-initramfs.

I tried to make things work via debian installation only, but with no success.

Can anyone point me to more links / tutorials suitable for my problem? obviously I need to edit crypttab and such, and must run update-initramfs -d to make effect at the end.

for swap I'm only planning to use swapfile and no partition.

anyway, now I always drop to shell, because grub cant find /dev/mapper/hdd
