what's better: vnc or rdp to access kali vm?

Our Kali VM's are on GCP and we use Apache Guacamole to connect to them from browser.

We are currently using VNC (tigervnc server), but I'm not sure why we chose that over RDP.

Any recommendations or opinions on why one might be better than the other?

RDP needs port forwarding set up and is not as secure by default as VNC is;
