New to Kali Linux and have been learning how to use it. Somewhere along the way, I have changed the password and don't remember what it was. I have tried to reset it by following instructions to edit in GRUB, change the ro to rw replace "quiet" with "init=/bin/bash" and remove "splash". I then reboot with ctrl X. Once the screen loads, I enter the passwd command, enter my new password, confirm new password, and then receive the message saying that my password was changed. I then reboot. When the log in page loads, I try to use "kali" and then enter my new password but I get an error message saying that my password in incorrect.
Not sure what to do from here to get back into Kali.

try blank password if you've 'reset' it
try and remember your password..
reinstall if nothing else works..
