After doing a complete system update, the GUI won't start at all
I get a new Kali screen for a split second, then it hangs at at a black screen with 3 dots. Each dot lights up in sequence.
Then it finally bombs out at a text login prompt.
My files are still there, thank god.
My question is this.
I have a separate /home filesystem where I believe all my applications are.
Can I reinstall Kali off my original USB bootable. Will this wipe out all the new programs I've loaded. I have a home business and I use Blender, Cura, have lots of office documents, a ton of other programs. I've done a backup but I'm asking about the principle of having a separate /home filesystem, if I can just reinstall Kali.
I'm also worried about Firefox, as well as losing all my desktop shortcuts.
My bootable Kali doesn't seem to have a live instance, it seems to go directly to Install and I was afraid to go further.
Can anyone help? Much appreciated I'm in quite a bind.
Thanks
