can't log in newly created user: /home/user/.ICEauthority not found

created a new user, try to log in and i get that error. So i cntrl alt F1 to console and i can log in that user

ls -a reveals that the file indeed does not exist. So my work around is switching to root and copying the .ICEauthority file in root's home directory to my new users. then i chown user:user .ICEauthority, this unfortunately did not solve my problem. i was hoping it would atleast log me in and rewrite any new settings.

anyone run into anything similar? i don't know if most ppl who run this distro just stay in root, but i want to learn how to use the utilities without messing up anything in su.

i am having the exactly same problem. and i am newbie here.
i checked the permission of .ICEauthority file in root only can be accessible for root user only.
i am wondering if i open the permission of this file for other users, is it safe or not

okay i found the solution!
just go to root user, right click to .ICEauthority file in root's home directory, properties, change the permission access for other : read and write.
then log out, login the NEW USER, hola! it's success.
then i login back to root user, and change back the permission for other to none. and it's still working for new user.
