Ever since the advent of Kali 1-06, Hard Drive(HD) installs of Kali have become more and more problematic. Currentlly all our attempts in install kali1.08 on 4 computers have met with problems.

Our Samsung computers freeze at the detect network stage.

Our Hp computers initially froze at the the detect disk stage but we found a work around.

If you are installing kali-linux 1.08 to a computer with XP and during the install process the computer freezes or fails at the detect disk stage. Start XP in safe mode then shut down and try the kali-linux graphical install processs again.

In this case we had used FIXMBR to restore the XP Boot Loader and then used Acronis to delete the k-1.07 Ext4 Partition and the Linux swap Partition. But when we tried to load k-1.08, the process failed as noted. We made repeated attempts to load k-1.08 all failed until we started windows in safe mode and then shut down. After that the install process was normal.
