Directional Antenna

Hi

i want to find out where a particular WiFi signal is coming from, i was thinking about getting one of these

Antenna 1
or
Antenna 2

i don't need the antenna to be more powerful, just directional, but then come across this

Antenna 1 above is a small Yagi, isn't that essentially the same thing?

I paid plenty for it but apparently it was a gimmick, as you could turn it right or left quite a bit without changing the signal strength much. Even more shocking: I could turn it 180 degrees away from the source and still get quite a lot of db's. What a joke.
