Hello,
I'm looking for assistance/advise getting dual external monitors to work in Kali 2.0. I have an HDD install of Kali Linux 2.0 64 bit with GNOME 3.14.1 on a Lenovo T530 laptop, an i5 processor, and NVIDIA GF108M (NVS 5400M) Graphics card. My laptop has a VGA port and a MiniDisplay port that i have a MiniDisplay-to-VGA adapter for. I have two external 20" monitors I'm trying to get working (one Acer, one Asus), however i'm having issues with (what i'm assuming are) the Nouveau drivers.
When i connect my 1st external monitor, Kali recognizes the monitor and sets it as my 2nd display, and my laptop display as my primary display. When i try to connect my 2nd external monitor, my laptop display and 1st external monitor are mirrored and my 2nd monitor display stays blank. Kali isn't detecting both external monitors when they're connected to my laptop; it'll only detect the one connected to the VGA (however, when i plug only one monitor into the MiniDisplay port, it'll recognize that monitor).
With all monitors plugged in, the output of lspci is:
Code:
root@kali:~# lspci | grep VGA
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 3rd Gen Core processor Graphics Controller (rev 09)
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GF108M [NVS 5400M] (rev a1)
and xrandr is:
Code:
root@kali:~# xrandr

I've searched the Kali forums and found a few threads (searched "dual monitors"), but didn't find anything of assistance. I've also tried several other resources and guides, including attempting to install the proprietary NVIDIA drivers (which didn't go so well; I ended up reverting to the Nouveau drivers due to several issues with x not starting).
I've tried and/or reviewed:

Has anyone been able to use two external monitors attached to a laptop (so that would be three active monitors; although i'd most likely turn off my laptop monitor if i were able to get two external monitors working) on Kali 2.0? If so, what method did you use? Are the Nouveau Drivers sufficient, or should I use the proprietary NVIDIA drivers. If the NVIDIA drivers, which method worked for installing them?
I appreciate any assistance!
