TP Link TL-WN722N (Nexus 7 - Nethunter 3.0)

Hi There. I have successfully installed Nethunter 2.0 on my Nexus 7 in the past with the stock Android 5.0.1 OS. I had no luck getting the device to power my TP Link wireless adapter, which I came to find out was a common issue and had to drop down to Android 4.4.4 in order to get it to work. I'm wondering if this issue has been rectified with Nethunter 3.0 before I bother to go upgrading. Unless nobody has tested it yet, in which case I'd be happy to give it a shot......

Yeah, I had the same issue. Just installing 3.0 now, will post again when tested.

I can confirm that it works! Binkybear created a new Kernel yesterday.

I'm running the exact same hardware setup and NetHunter 3.0.1/Android 6. You say a new kernel was created yesterday, any other details? I believe that would make the newest build date the 9th. That's the same build date as the latest NetHunter 3.0.1 update, but I'm still having issues with my 722N not being detected. Unless we are talking about two different updates, it doesn't seem to have solved my issue.

Edit: I've also run the custom command to update metapackages.

I'm surprised to be honest. I thought the issue was with Android 5/6 and not with Nethunter??

I´m not sure if it is the offical final version, but it works very good for me.

Now that i have 3.0 im having this same problem with my wireless card, the only difference is i have a nexus 9.

This is not an issue with android because i was able to use my TP and Alfa in 2.0 just yesterday

It not an issue with android but maybe also with the Kernel!
You use Android 5.1.1 or 6.0.1 ?

I am having the exact same issue. I've spent the last three days searching the Web for an answer. I can't find anything! I am running nethunter 3.0.1 on a nexus 7 (2012). Android version 5.1.1. I'm also using cyanogenmod 12.1. Im using an otg cable and my device will not recognize the tp link wn722n adapter as a wireless card. When I type "lsusb" it shows up. Just not when I type in "iwconfig" or "ifconfig". I can't get wlan1 to show up no matter what I do. I would really appreciate any help I could get.

Can you guys please do uname -a in your Kali chroot and post the entire output of the command. The are a few instances where the kernel install may fail, and this could be one of them.

The output of mine when I enter uname -a is...Linux kali 3.1.10-geec365f #1 SMP PREEMPT Tue Nov 17 02:10:32 PST armv7l GNU/Linux.

Could be a kernel flash failure, normally Kali NetHunter kernels have tags after the version such as 3.4.0-nethunter, those git tags I would assume are from stock kernels. Have you tried the installer from here? https://forums.kali.org/showthread.p...nate-installer

I had the same exact issue on my Nexus 6 after install of 3.0 tonight. TP Link card wouldn't come up on ifconfig, but showed on lsusb. Uname showed a stock tag on kernel. I went ahead and followed jcadduono's suggestion and now the USB card works. Took all of 10 mins...

Which version did you install from the Offensive Security site? It seems there's only flo option there as well:

Hummm... I guess I wasn't thinking about it at the time, flo it is. As a note, the Nexus 7 description says "NetHunter images are available for both the Wi-Fi and LTE versions". I know Pwn Pad came in both, and I've been told installing one on the other was bad. I -believe- NetHunter 2 came in a separate flavor for each. Not sure if this is an oversight or not.

Edit: Flo seems to work fine, no problems now, although wifite would fail unless -aircrack is added. Also, -dict <path> doesn't seem to work, and regardless of this flag, it always displays "no wpa dictionary found!". Editing wifite and adding the path to your dictionary as a custom option (can't remember the line number) does seem to work. I know you usually don't want to do cracking on a tablet, but it's handy to go ahead and run the capture against the top 10k list, and only takes a minute.

Awesome, glad it works! Yeah, I've never been able to get the dictionary to work on any installation without adding the path manually.

Is the kernel available for download anywhere?
When I click the link for the binkybear kernel it says it isnt available.
I have a N7 2013 running CM13. Everything seems to be ok. I can connect the TPLink USB with a OTG cable. Running dmesg as Kali root, I can see that it sees it, but the TPLink adapter never illuminates the LED, so I assume it is a power issue.
Also, if I run airmon-ng, I can only see wlan0, which I believe is the onboard wlan adapter.

I can downgrade to another Android version if needed.

I ended up figuring it out.
I flashed my N7 back with a stock ROM (5.1.1) and unrooted it.
I then re-rooted it and put TeamWin Recovery manager on, followed all the instructions in the (Nexus Root Tool Kit) to root it and install a custom recovery.
After all that was done, I put NetHunter on, connected my OTG cable with the TPLink card attached and it worked right away. I didnt have to do anything at all to it.
