Did a fresh install of Kali 2016.1 Rolling on VMWare. I like rolling, I like having the latest nmap updates and such. It's very cool. Problem is that I find the new Gnome to be clumsy and sluggish. I'd like to go to KDE.
After searching around a bit (and KDE being "too small" a term to search in the forums which was a pain) I found the definitive post...from 2013 - https://forums.kali.org/showthread.p...t=change+gnome
As I said, that post was from 2013. First question is does the same process apply today? Second question - do the rolling repositories even have all the ingrediants needed for the install? I tried to run the suggested:
Code:
apt-get install kali-defaults kali-root-login desktop-base kde-full
line but I got a lot of 404 errors when I tried to do so. Here is a sample. note Get:36 - that did install, so the repositories are up. But the rest it's just a steady stream of 404's.

So, yeah I'd love to get KDE up and running but seems like the Kali Rolling people decided not to put that on the shelf.
