As a programmer and electronics engineering student I have a decent idea of what to try to fix this issue, thus I've followed http://docs.kali.org/installation/ka...ve-usb-install and that didn't do anything, it doesn't show up as an option when booting holding down the alt/option key. rEFIt doesn't help much either, although it does see the thumbdrive, it denotes it as a legacy os. When trying to boot from it in refit all i get are numerous errors like "device not found" (I'll reboot in a sec and get a pic of the output and reply the pic). I've also converted the iso to an img using
Code:
hdiutil convert -format UDRW -o ~/path/to/target.img ~/path/to/kali.iso
and that didn't change anything either. I even booted into my Win8 install and followed the live usb installation instructions for such, still no luck. and Yes, the thumbdrive does boot in my HP laptop, just not in my MacBookPro5,2
heres the output of diskutil list
Code:
/dev/disk2
#: TYPE NAME SIZE IDENTIFIER
0: FDisk_partition_scheme *16.0 GB disk2
1: 0x17 2.2 GB disk2s1
i've used this usb for making a windows 8 install USB and also a OSX lion USB. I can't get my mac to recognize it when formatted as a live cd. I am aware that at one point Ubuntu had a separate mac disk because of some obscurity of the newer mac boot sequence i guess. Muts, if you see this, have you looked into such? Here's what i can find on the subject http://mirror.anl.gov/pub/ubuntu-iso...12.04/release/
This image is adjusted to work properly on Mac systems.
Thank you in advance for any help / input
