External SSD with 2016.2 installed not recognized by MSI GL62-6QF

    Hi all.

As the title states, my system is an MSI GL62-6QF, an 893 to be specific.

Am running into a situation where I can get the 2016.2 Live USB to run fine, but if I install to my external SSD (SanDisk SDSSDA-120G)
the system does not recognize there being a drive with an OS on it.

Have UEFI/bios option set at UEFI with CSM, secure boot is disabled.

The only linux distribution that I can get up and running is Fedora 24 xfce.
both Ubuntu Live CDs and USBs stall and don't go anywhere.

I have read around a bit, hearing something about issues arising with Skylake, but I have not found anything closely related to the issue I am having.
Most of the forum threads relate to dual booting.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

when you disable secure boot, you also have to enable Legacy and disable fast startup. After I enabled legacy and disabled fast start up I am able to boot EFI without any troubles
