Greetengs!
Why, every and each new Kali LiveCd build contains this stupid option - AUTO-UPDATE?
I have to launch xterm and feverishly print:
# /usr/bin/gsettings set org.gnome.software download-updates false
EVERY TIME!!!! EVERY BOOT!
Imagine such situation
- user has only 4Gb of RAM, light note-book. Okey..
He inserted LiveCD KAli 2019.1 in Caffe, in the middle of Nowhere...
Connected to wi-fi point - just to check his e-mail box.
And after a couple of minutes - he disconnected and even shutting down his laptop.
However, nobody have seen, but Kali 2019.1 LiveCD already downloaded 700 Megabytes of Updates and placed it inside /var/cache/apt/archives/ inside RAM,
700 Megabytes!
Global Warming? no, didn't hear, I'm bitcoin miner, bye!
Hey, Imagine another one,
- He has no 4Gb of RAM, He has only 3Gb, or even 2Gb...
After boot, after making internet connection
- he will lost control over machine,
because NO ENOUGH MEMORY,
RAM will be completely polluted by this stupid AUTO-UPDATE!
----
I'm trying to be polite, but will repeat my question:
Why LiveCD going with Enabled Auto-Update option????
It is Live!!! one boot!!! FIVE MINUTES!!!
I'm highly recommend developers to look at OpenBSD best-practice policy,
in short: "Everything what can be disabled - shall be Disabled by Default!!"
Cheers!
