Unhappy How to install System76 Drivers on a new Kali Install?

This is my first post and I'm not sure if this should be in Kali Install or Troubleshooting, but I did get Kali installed properly. Keep in mind my background is 25+ years in Dos/Windows and I'm new to Linux. With my software and networing background I want to learn more about pen-testing etc.

The problem is I bought a new System76 that comes with Pop OS with the sole intention of running Kali or Parrot on it. I installed Kali but the laptop itself is giving me all kinds of issues. Doesn't go into sleep mode, freeze at times. I figure I need the proper drivers but can't figure out how to install them.

I tried to follow the instructions on System76 with installing drivers after a fresh Ubuntu install but they don't seem to work for Kali. Does anyone else use System76 and have these problems or find a way to install drivers?

    Thing's I've tried so far..

    I followed these... http://support.system76.com/articles/system76-driver/
    apt-preferences.jpg

    kali errors.jpg

    Can't get that working.

Then I tried to install the drivers they have on github (https://github.com/pop-os/system76-driver) but when I run make-release I get an error on line 139.

Please help me turn this brick of a brand new laptop it something stable.

Hi, I have same problem. I've got Oryx Pro 6 with coreboot bios and therefore many things must be controlled from OS. Kali linux and other Linux distros working just fine without system76 drivers except keyboard backlight and upgrading firmware. I tried same thing like you system76 dkms give me error when I try recompile kali linux kernel. Did you solved your drivers problem ?
