Is it possible to change to the default Kali layout trough the VPN ?

Is it possible to change to the default Kali layout trough the VPN ?

Or I3WM?

Can I somehow configure it to show LightDM,which would allow me to select the window manager?
I tried using the Settings application, but that did not work.
