fixed channel mon0: -1 issue

Hello all,
I was just wondering if anyone is having some issue with airodump-ng showing fixed channel mon0: -1 issue.
Can't really figure out how to fix this issue. I tried following this tut from the site. http://www.aircrack-ng.org/doku.php?id=compat-wireless

I tried compat-wireless-3.6.8-1.tar.bz2

but got some error message when I ran make ... it's stopped right away.

Let me know if you guys figured this out or how you guys fixed it.

You shouldn't be seeing this with the patched kernel drivers; I presume you're not using them? So:

revert to kernel drivers, or
patch it yourself, or
use the "--ignore-negative-one" switch.
