Dual Boot On Mac Yosemite 10.10.5 With rEFInd Loading To Black Page With Blinking Bar

Hey All.

SUPER new user to this whole Kali Linux world. I am booting with a DVD containing the ISO of the 32 bit version of Kali Linux onto my 5 year old MacBook Pro.

I get past rEFInd quite easily and then from there.

Would appreciate your help as I get a black page with a blinking bar at the top left corner.

The only way I get back from there is to hold down my power button and let my whole system restart.

I can't wait to use this for the first time - appreciate any advice.
