Where did grub go?
So I freed up some space on my hd and installed kali successfully. When prompted to install grub I did and everything seems fine.
But when booting my pc goes straight to w7 using the MBR. Grub isn't even loading.
I get the feeling that my partitions might be in the wrong order or something.
I took a screen shot of my partitions.
Any suggestions?

Is it a uefi-gpt or bios-mbr?
if bios-mbr, did you installed it in sda? Not in sdax (sda1, sda2, sda3, etc)

Sorry I dont know the answer to your first question.
I started with a win7 install that included the current partitions pictured above sda1,2,3, &5 (recovery) I shrunk down sda3 leaving approx 51gb of free space. During the install from my usb thumb drive I selected the option to use free space and let the installer do everything else on it's own with the partitions. after install I was prompted to install grub, I hit yes and it did it's thing. Now, whenever I restart the computer it boots directly to win7 presenting no options for boot with MBR nor gurb.
I hope this helps.

Sorry, I did not see the picture you posted.
According to the picture, you have a uefi-gpt (you have 7 primary partitions, in bios-mbr you are allowed only 4 primary partitions), so need to read about installing grub in an uefi system. Otherwise it will not work.
