Unable to open settings and VPN settings in Kali 2.0

Operating System: Kali 2.0
Architecture: 64bits

Visible errors: when I try to open the VPN settings on I get the following message

"Execution of gnome-control-center failed" Failed to execute child process "gnome-control-center" no such file or directory!

However, when I try to click the general settings button on the dropdown menu that is in the top-right, I don't get any message.

Hardware: I am running a TOSHIBA Sattelite P50-A Laptop with Intel Core i7 4700MQ and NVIDIA GForce 740m
This Kali was installed on the HDD and it's using GNOME

If I could open the settings and make it work, I believe that I could fix some things that are bugging me.
