Hello everyone and thanks for reading me, (Sorry for my english I'm french)
I post here, I hope it is ok, it seems to be the place where we can talk about network issues.
I bought my AWUS036H, I connect it to my Mac, VMWARE Fusion asks to what system I want it to connect the AWUS I select Linux.
In Linux, no green light on the cart but when I do "airman-ng" my cart is detected 1/2, and when it is detected I can do monitoring "airman-ng start wlan0" and the answer is good. But, even when it's detected :
- first, I can't selected a wifi, only the icon wifi appears, nothing else.
- And when I want to do a any test with my wifi, for example with airman-ng or here with Fluxion, the card disconnect every time when it is used. I take a picture to show you my problem.
- Sometimes the cart is detected, but 2 minutes later, it is not detected anymore.
I tried to found drivers but they seems to not work in my case. I try to reinstall
my Virtual Machine but it don't help too.
Example of the problem :
Attachment 2261
I don't know why it happened, because I read that the drivers are normally already installed in kali, so I don't understand,
Thanks for reading me
Hello. Im new beginner Linux, and I can't find a driver for my USB wifi Although I downloaded the driver from the TP-Link homepage but I can't install it on kali linux, my adapter is TL-WN822N version 4.0 and using a chipset TRL8192EU.
Please help me
Hello, I have a VM (Virtualbox) install of 64 bit Linux kali 4.9.0-kali3-amd64. Recently I bought a TP-LINK TL-WN722N and when I installed it, it showed as a Realtek chipset (it doesn't show as Atheros, which is what I read it should) and I am having some trouble getting it to run properly on Kali Linux. I installed it in an Ubuntu machine, and also in the Host machine (Windows 10) and it works fine in both instances.
Below is some output of a few commands:
iwconfig
Code:root@kali:~# iwconfig
eth1 no wireless extensions.
lo no wireless extensions.
eth0 no wireless extensions.
ifconfig
When I check in the USB devices of the VMWare, it shows as Realtek 802.11n NIC, but when I do lsusb it displays no info or the vendor at all:Code:eth0: flags=4163<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,MULTICAST> mtu 1500

I tried:
- Making sure it's uninstalled in the host machine
- Installing the compat-drivers
- Once compat-drivers are installed, I can see wlan0 and wlan1, but neither of those can do anything, they don't detect networks or send/receive any traffic at all.
- Reinstalling in the host machine the latest drivers
- Connecting the USB to other slot
- Verifying that the USB is set up (filtered) as USB 2.0 in the Virtualbox settings
- Changing the filter to USB 3.0
The machine I'm using is a Dell XPS15.
Thank you for any help, it is greatly appreciated.
Hello everyone,
Spent massive amount of time trying to get my wireless to work on Macbook Pro (Retina). I am running Kali Linux (rolling) on Mac with Dual Boot.
My wireless card is Broadcom 4360.
lspci -vv output shortly was:
Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4360 802.11ac Wireless Network Adapter (rev 03)
I googled around and the current default drivers on Kali are not loading (they would be wrong anyway). So I tried follow the following guide since this should enable Broadcom 4360 properly: https://wiki.debian.org/wl
I follow steps 1-3 but I got an error on step 4.
The thing is I should be running version 4.9 but for some reason when I try to do 'modprobe wl' I get a fatal error - for some reason the command looks for the file in the 4.6 version and cant find it.
See attached the output from step 1-4 with the error.
Can anyone help me understand why i can't make it load the right driver - how do i change it to look in the right place?

Hello from Mexico excuse me, I hope you can endenteder since I do not know English and I do not write it either, so I use a translation to communicate with you. And installed kali linux on a laptop dell inspiron 5000 series and I could not, I do not know how to install the wifi driver, I have an integrated wifi card (dual band wireless-ac 3165). Will there be drivers for this type of wifi card? And if there is ... how do you install? Since I am new to linux and especially in kali linux, God bless you and thank you very much, I hope your prompt help.
Drivers for your wifi adapter come pre-installed in kali.Quote:

Unfortunately tp-link used to use different chipsets between 2 versions of same card...
I had same issue and I solved it by porting official TP-link driver to work with kernel 4.9.
You can obtain fixed driver from:
https://github.com/mfruba/kernel/tre...2N_v2.0-Ralink
Hello all,
I just got a TP Link TL-WN722N Wireless card earlier today, and have been trying to get it to work for the past 5 days. I've done a ton of research, and am absolutely tearing my hair out trying to solve this supposedly simple problem. From what I have read, the chipset driver is already included in the kernel and shouldn't need to be downloaded. However, when I run "ifconfig" or "iwconfig" I only get my 3 standard devices: lo, wlan0 and eth0. It should be showing up as wlan1, but nothing. I am testing it in a functioning USB port, and have tested the adapter on my Windows computer with success. I know it isn't detected because the green light inside the adapter that blinks when a machine detects it has been silent while it is in my Kali machine.
I was able to download the drivers for the adapter from TP-link's website, but I don't know how to build it. There is no tar.gz, no .exe, and no files with endings other than a wpa_0_8.conf. Everything else has no file type. There is a Makefile, but I don't know how to use it. ./configure, sudo make and sudo make install just return errors. I think the drivers are probably installed, but I'm not sure.
lsusb shows a device that I have identified as the wireless card, but there is no comment/information text that follows the bus and device id. Running "dmesg | tail" shows me that the usb device is connected, and tells me that it is a Realtek card. Again, there is no output in iwconfig.
I would greatly appreciate some help with this issue. If you need any more information, please let me know and I would be happy to supply it so that I can solve this.
Thanks,
u/GarrukApex

The problem I face is that when i plug it in, it works fine for like 5 minutes and then the it stops working at all. Replugging doesn't help, I can use it again for 5 minutes again after I reboot.
I would be glad if someone could help me out please!!!
It has a realtek rtl8188eus chipset. Try instructions on this website https://l33ttutorials.wordpress.com/...-kali-linux-2/. It worked for me.
P.S. it doesnt support monitor mode.
Try making this directory if you are using kali liveQuote:
make[1]: *** /lib/modules/4.0.0-kali1-amd64/build: No such file or directory. Stop.
Most probably it should exist if you are using installed version of kali linux.Code:mkdir /lib/modules/$(uname -r)/build -f
Run this if you are using installed kaliCode:sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
reboot
sudo apt-get install linux-headers-$(uname -r)
reboot
Just spent 3 days trying to get this dongle to work. There were a ton of different ideas most of which didn't work.
I ended up installing Manges driver which almost worked - was able to connect to wireless and use network but both airmon-ng start wlan0 and ifconfig down, iwconfig wlan0 mode monitor failed to work.
Tried jeremyb31 and the cu driver as well which also failed.
Odd thing was while my dongle was connected and working airmon-ng was listing it as Phy Null and Driver ??????.
I took the dongle outside and smashed it with a hammer and ordered the 722N which I know works. I shouldn't have done that to the dongle because it works perfectly in Windows. Not sure why we have 1980s themed problems like this in 2017 operating systems but it is what it is.
mfruba, the only way I could get your 20150417 driver to work(4.4 won't build) under kali 4.9 is to first install lwfinger driver then your 20150417 driver. Also, TL-WN722N v2 Realtek green light does not work when running; airodump-ng was collecting but no light on usb device. Can you please provide details instructions?
Hi, I have a AWUS051nh v2, with a Ralink RT3572 chipset
When I fresh install Kali linux 2017.1 it works like a charm, but when I dist-upgraded to 4.12.0-kali1-amd64 it stated showing a weak wireless signal (it has less than half the bars and I am 1 meter away from the router), also it used to show like 30 Access point, and now its down to 5 or 6.
I'm using 2800usb drivers, as I was when I first installed it.
I did reinstall the firmware and tried to reinstall the driver, but I'm kinda new to linux (and pen-testing as well).

I flashed Kali on a Oneplus One Android phone running lineageos, and I'm trying to get Kali to recognize the TL-WN722N version 2. Before trying to use this adapter on the phone, I was using it on a laptop running Galliumos linux. I installed the driver for the adapter using these commands
so I tried using the same commands in kali to install the driver on the Oneplus One.Code:sudo apt install git dkms git make build-essential
cd /usr/src
sudo git clone https://github.com/lwfinger/rtl8188eu.git
sudo dkms add ./rtl8188eu
sudo dkms build 8188eu/1.0
sudo dkms install 8188eu/1.0
sudo modprobe 8188eu
Kali executed the first four commands, but when I typed
I got an error:Code:dkms build 8188eu/1.0
Is there a solution for this?Code:root@kali:/usr/src# dkms build 8188eu/1.0

Hello Community,
Last night I spent at least 5 hours trying to get wi-fi working on my laptop after a fresh Kali install. The online research let me to the compat wireless driver, after installing it the Wi-Fi interface shows up but it won't discover any networks and even after reading countless of guides and watching several youtube videos I am still not closer to the solution. One thing to note is that after the driver installation, when I go to network manager and try to see if there are any wi-fi networks available, the LED light on my wi-fi button on the keyboard is flickering white (normally its continuous orange when its off), so it gives me the impression that it's somehow trying to discover new networks but they don't show.
My laptop: HP Envy 15 j140-na
You can find the specs here: https://support.hp.com/gb-en/document/c04350018
I started fresh again, took some screenshots to show the situation.

I'm a Kali noob, installed the OS for the course I started doing so apologies if the solution is very simple and it's been covered in another thread.
Appreciate the help and will be happy to provide any additional info if it helps.
PS: The touchpad seems overly sensitive too and tapping on it doesn't count as clicking. Is this normal with Kali?
Thanks!
Hi, i run wifi adapter on monitor mode without killing process, now it is not working. when i connect it, it restart the laptop immediately. what should i do ?
Wlan0 showing up but no networks. Wifi just shows a blank box and wifi settings does not show anything. Txpower is 0 and I have tried every command to fix it. Nothing changes it. Wlan0 is up and even shows networks when you put it it monitor mode using airmon-ng
Hi all, I have a extremely frustrating problem i currently run kali on a VM on a MacBook Pro and i am trying to use my wireless card "Panda Wireless PAU09" it is a recommended card and is said to be "Plug and Play" without having to install drivers and/or configuring it, but this has not been the case for me.
I can run 'iwconfig" "lsusb" and "dmesg" and all of them display the same thing "Bus 001 Device 002: ID 148f:5572 Ralink Technology, Corp. RT5572 Wireless Adapter" but after i looked deeper into "dmesg" it shows that it is loading the firmware "rt2800usb and rt2870.bin" being loaded and they are able to activate successfully but i still cannot see any wifi networks, the device is found but not networks are. When i run "dmesg" and run it twice an error pops up and says "IPv6: ADDRCONF(NETDEV_UP): wlan0: link is not ready"
I have installed all drivers that i can get my hands on, i have contacted panda and they gave me a "linux" driver which ended up being corrupt and non-working i also added a few blacklisted sources to aid the drivers and this was recommended by a few people and after doing so my wifi shows up for a few seconds then goes away. The sources are for the ralink driver family "http://cdn-fastly.deb.debian.org/debian jessie InRelease and http://cdn-fastly.deb.debian.org/debian Strech InRelease"
If you have any solution i wad really appreciate a reply because i am going crazy trying to get my card working with kali.
Hi,
I have Kali on a bootable usb and when I try to run it I get this error: ''IPv6: ADDRCONF (NETDEV_UP): wlan0: link is not ready.''
Please note:
Kali is running from a bootable usb
It is running on a laptop
I googled endlessly for an answer
I am a complete noob :(
Any help would be appreciated, excuse my english and forgive me if I broke any of the forum rules,I am new here

Hi
I have 2 wifi adapters : alpha awus036nha (atheros 9271) un awus036ach (RTL 8812AU) on kali 3.0 dual boot on laptop and a wifi booster sunsanhs 2500sh . i try to use evil twin for a longe range . it worked in the past for a closed range with my nha . but my booster can boost only awus ach on kali (and boost them both on win 10) somy question is : is there a way to make my awus036nha reach longer range on kali ? Or do i need to upgrade my driver or bying a Yagi antenna?
You need another antenna. Even if that existed, a driver upgrade will NEVER increase the range of wireless adapter. This is a piece of hardware.
Dears, I have installed Kali 2019 as single boot on 15-Inch MacBook Pro (Mid-2017). but I'm facing many issues with my WiFi connection, i\m able to connect to my mobile phone hotspot but i cannot connect to my wifi home signal or any other signals available. could you please let me know how to solve this issue. my network card details are below:
lspci -vnn | grep Network
03:00.0 Network controller [0280]: Broadcom Limited BCM43602 802.11ac Wireless LAN SoC [14e4:43ba] (rev 02)
hello, I have a problem with a Kali with ath10k driver. the system shows the wifi panel but it doesn't show any wifi network. During installation I got that installation required 2 files (ath10k/pre-cal-pci-0000:01:00.0.bin and ath10k/cal-pci-0000:01:00.0.bin), I skipped that because I didn't have these files. Now The only thing that I found was this:
systemctl status NetworkManager
NetworkManager [489]: <error> [1557675162.6447] sup-iface[0x55c7b0cda390,wlan0]; error adding interface; wpa_supplicant couldn't grab this interface.
uname -a
Linux username 4.19.0-kali3-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 4.19.20-1kali1 (2019-02-14) x86_64 GNU/Linux
I do not have Ethernet connection so the only way to fix is passing files with a USB pendrive.
Hi i installed kali linux on virtualbox and i have a wireless adapter realtek rtl8812au but kali doesnt use my wireless adapter and it doesnt show itself i tried everything and i cant make it work i really need help on this.
Thank you in advance
Hello, I'm fairly new to Kali Linux
I'm trying to get my wireless adapter to show on iwconfig and ifconfig. Nothing is showing up
lsusb is showing the adapter is connected as well dmesg. It comes up with device descriptor read/64, error -32
I'm not sure if I'm doing something or how to resolve this issue.
The chipset in the adapter is a realtek 802.11n NIC I will be happy to provide more information for whoever is willing to help
Thank you in advance
I've tried two Realtek chipsets with Kali.
rt8192su - Will NOT work with kali linux
This chipset behaves very erratically, symptoms range from turning on and off on its own (especially when trying to change the mac address) it does not support wpa2 security if you wanted to use it as a Hotspot. The options in hotspot mode are Open (No security) or WEP.
rt8188cu - Will WORK with kali linux
This one works great. Allows the user to change the mac address, supports wpa2 security in hotspot mode and has excellent range.
All Ralink or MediaTek chipsets have also worked very well.
Do you have another wifi adapter maybe, doesn't have to be new.
Let us know,
Alex
I bought a Realtek usb-wifi adapter and wanted to install the driver:
First i ran: sudo apt-get update
Than: I plugged in the usb-stick and typed lsusb:
root@kali:~# lsusb
Bus 001 Device 003: ID 0bda:b812 Realtek Semiconductor Corp. 802.11ac NIC
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 002 Device 003: ID 0e0f:0002 VMware, Inc. Virtual USB Hub
Bus 002 Device 002: ID 0e0f:0003 VMware, Inc. Virtual Mouse
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Than: sudo apt search realtek, but i dont find the right driver, because there's no name.
I have a VM ware with kali 2019.4
Wich driver can i chose:confused:
Hey, everybody. As I read on the Internet, the problem is with the new 5.4 kernel. Help to solve the problem. The system doesn't see the built-in wifi module intel ac 9560. Awus036nh via usb works fine.

Hello,
I loaded Kali DVD and entered rescue mode (systemctl rescue) and I get the USB error over and over even when I am modifying a document with nano editor. The error messages appeared in the middle of the commands I enter (image below) is this normal?
https://ibb.co/84fFQ7v
The error, although the device number keeps changing (i. e., 7, 8, 9, n) is:
usb 2-14: New full-speed USB device number 127 using xhci_hcd
usb 2-14: New USB device found, idVendor=138a, idProduct=0050, bcbDevice= 0.60
usb 2-14: New USB device strings: Mfr=0, Product=0, SerialNumber=1
usb 2-14: SerialNumber: 20100020d28d
usb 2-14: USB disconnect, device number 127
Thank you
I've enabled wlan0 and I am in monitoring mode but when I do an airodump-ng on wlan0 but am not seeing any channels. Why would this be? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hello All ,
I Try To Use Airodump-ng Like That :airmon-ng check kill , airmon-ng start wlan0 , airodump-ng wlan0mon
*But When Airodump-ng Start Working Nothing Happened. (last updated version of kali)
So , I Use Another Version of Kali (live usb) And Evry Thing Works Perfectly!
my wireless card: Qualcomm Atheros QCA9377 (On Board).
