mitm with usb-wifi while using the internal wifi also

I can use mitmf to sniff traffic using my usb wifi. The problem is, mitmf sniffing refuses to work if I have my Nexus 7's internal wifi on and connected to another network. I need the internal wifi in order to get to the tablet via ssh from my main computer while the sniffing is taking place.

When using the mitmf with the internal wifi on, the sniffed network goes in lock down and no data is moving to the connected devices. Mitmf gives no visible errors when this happens. I find this behaviour a bit wierd cause the toolkit gives you the chance to determin the interface you want to use for the attack so I'm guessing this is not about the tool using the wrong interface.

Anyone with the same challenges and perhaps with a solution?
