I have been using backtrack 5 for some time. I could use the up arrow key to bring up previous commands.
Looks like kali only saves commands for the current session. Is that correct or is there another way to retrieve all?

...it must write to a file to 'remember' the commands between boots, and where is that file located I'd like to know...
To see previously used commands try doing ;
