Can't get nvidia drivers to work. GTX 1080 ti. official tutorial doesnt work

Hello I've been trying to get the nvidia drivers to work with no success. The official kali tutorial broke my system with the "oh no, something went wrong" message
I was able to revert back thanks to this tutorial:

Does anyone have a link to a working tutorial for a desktop card? I seem to only find tutorials for laptops with intel/nvidia graphics.

My computer specs in case they are needed:
-AMD Rysen 1800x
-MSI NVIDIA GTX 1080 ti

I am dual booting kali and windows 10.
