fresh install of kali to hd but can't find kali

I had my mbp working perfectly, dual booting os x and kali. Everything was great, until i wanted to downgrade os x. So I decided to just run kali on my mbp.

I installed to the entire disk, completed the install, and restarted. I am not able to boot it up normal. I am only able to get it started with a grub fix disk that I had from before. I am able to insert the disk, hold down 'c'. It finds the grub file, it detects the os. I can (and currently do) select the disk or grub file and boot from that in order to get into kali and type this post.

I also have a boot repair disk that i use. It claims that it "fixes" the issue and to restart, but yields the same result.

The grub fix disk is able detect grub file and kali.

How can i get this to boot up correctly without needing the grub fix?

i am still working on this. I have been to some forums while searching for answers. one post, a guy mentioned to post the fstab...
maybe if i post that here, would i / could i get some assistance with this issuse? I am still using Grub Fix cd to boot up my system

Hi brazen,

Few questions, when you boot the computer does it take you to grub and grub tells you that the system has no bootable drivers?

If you open gparted in Kali does the drive have the boot flag set?

Have you tried an update-grub after booting into Kali?

Have you tried reinstalling grub?
